MASOOR DAL PAKODA

MASOOR DAL PAKODA or red lentil fritters is very common afternoon snack in our household. I still remember once I am back from office, my mother in law would ask for this to have with her cup of tea. So this  fritters with some puffed rice was a common sight and in rainy and winter season, it is a must.Here is the simple recipe of crisp MASOOR DAL PAKODA that goes best with a cup of Chai in the evening.

Masoor dal is an important part of our diet especially for the vegetarian population since it contains 26% protein. It is a split lentil without skin and is red in colour ,cooks quickly and has a pleasant earthy flavour.

For making these fritters, you need to soak the masoor daal and then grind to a coarse paste and deep fried to be enjoyed with a cup of chai.

Instructions
  1. Wash and soak the masoor dal for 1 hours. Drain all the water and keep aside.Add garlic, green chillies and make a coarse batter of this.
  2. Add chopped onions, curry leaves,jeera, edible soda,salt and mix well.Fry the pakodas on medium heat till brown and crisp. transfer to a plate.
  3. Enjoy with a hot cup of Tea.....
