Lassi is a yogurt based summer drink which keeps our body temps cool & soothes from inside. It can be flavored with fruits, different spices or just sugar & salt. This traditional summer drink is a common sight across North Indian states like Punjab, Rajastan, Uttar Pradesh .There are three versions of Lassi – salted, sweet and masala.
This traditional drink uses thick homemade yogurt that is fresh and sweet in flavor. Besides it needs to be chilled properly before using. During the summer months this is the perfect companion to beat the heat. Apart from the classic varieties of sweet and salty, I also make use of various summer fruits like mangoes, pineapple,Litchi to flavor this traditional recipe.
This is officially the hottest month in this part of India and the peak season for summer fruit harvest. During this time I make use of the bounty of the nature to quench our thirst. During summer I make sure to make Mango Lassi, but this time I added Pineapple to it and the taste was yum. I have used equal quantity of Mango, Pineapple and very thick hung curd to make this recipe.
- 1 cup thick hung yogurt
- 1 cup chopped mangoes
- 1 cup chopped pineapple
- 1/4 cup sugar
- Chilled water
- Ice Cubes
- Peal mangoes and pineapple and chop roughly into cubes.
- Add sugar to the chopped mangoes and pineapple and blend thoroughly.
- Add yogurt,chilled water and ice cubes. Blend well . Serve immediately.
